April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among a few women beach volleyball athletes to have achieved this feat. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian who will be joining the team in Tokyo. Ross aims to earn her Olympic debut gold but she's also hoping to win even more. Perhaps she has one opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. She remains optimistic that she will be able to win top awards. If we do our best or even if we do well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. This is also the result of luck. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. She lived here with her mother, father and younger sister. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. Being a pre-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. However, she was a standout in this sport. According to her bio, she played a middle blocker and an outside volleyball player during her high-school career. She was awarded one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. Her volleyball skills also brought her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Even though Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major athlete on the beach prior to their team. She's won big competitions with different players. A couple of those is an icon in the world of volleyball. In the period 2007 until 2013, she was a team together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships in 2009. The 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded a gold medal. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. It was fate that had them. Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross played with the Trojans of USC as an NCAA. And her run at the school was an impressive one. In 2000, as a freshman, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. In 2000, her Trojans also reached the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. The last two years in the Trojans in the program they won success by winning two successive national titles. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the best female volleyball player at a collegiate level in America according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross never saw her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She still holds her mother close to her heart. Margie continues to be an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
