Rosalia
Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. [7][8] Born and raised in the suburbs of Barcelona She has been described as an "atypical pop singer" because of her genre-bending music styles. When she was of 13 she fell in love with Spanish folk music, and she studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music. She also performed at weddings as well as music bars. Reimagining flamenco in a new way by mixing it with hip hop and pop music, the project produced the singles "Malamente" as well as "Pienso en Your Mira" which attracted the interest of the Spanish general public, and released to widespread applause from the critics. Recognized as the winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and included in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the climb of Rosalia into the international scene of music. Rosalia was a pioneer of urbano music through her 2019 albums "Con Altura" and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi", had global success. With her third studio album Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton a unique new twist, moving away from the original flamenco vibe. The album's lead singles "La Fama" and "Saoko", caught the attention of international fans and was the most reviewed album by Metacritic. Rosalia has scored ten number one songs throughout her career in her native country. This is the highest number for an artist from that area. The singer has also received two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the year awards) and four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other awards. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award, in 2019, for "changing the style of popular songs by introducing her unique flamenco-infused pop". 18 years ago, she is also the first singing Spanish group to be recognized for the Best New Artist at Grammys.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Rosalia is the youngest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who owns a small metalworking business. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in 2019. The older sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative brain. Rosalia was keen on performing arts since the age of five. She discovered the discography of Camaron De la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she started her musical training. [24] She did a six-year course at the academy. She began in the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. In addition, she performed as an independent artist at weddings and in bars with musical music, for which she was paid "a less than 80 euros in exchange for dinner". [26] During that time, Rosalia met many underground Spanish performers who were later successful such as La Zowi, Yung Beef, Kaydy Cain, Hinds and Maria Escarmiento.
